4th Annual European Leveraged Capital Markets: Finding a Way Forward
25 Oct 2022The leveraged loan market had a bumper 2021 and looked to be in rude health despite the lingering menace of the coronavirus pandemic, with incredibly high levels of borrowing (USD307.5bn equivalent from 364 deals in Western Europe alone according to LoanRadar data) and tight spreads for both borrower and lender.
This year though, has hit the market like a hangover following a great night out, with multiple challenges and threats reducing it to a standstill. Just USD80.7bn equivalent has been raised in Western Europe from 148 deals for example, just over a quarter of last year’s total.
